Modern CO2 lasers are (still) relatively bulky, measuring roughly 3 x 3 feet in width and 5 feet in height. The laser arm contains a series of mirrors that reflect the laser beam (energy) through a flexible arm. The end of the laser arm is coupled to an operating laparoscope such that the laser energy is transmitted through an operating channel inside the laparoscope. On the laser, an instrument panel allows the surgeon and laser nurse to adjust the power generated (as required)..
